Nowadays, there are many platforms between which creators and musicians have to choose when posting their music or content. Luckily, they don’t have to pick one exclusively but can distribute it to all of them.
Just like with everything else, there are many people who repost the content you made and use it, which is fine if allowed by the original creator, but in other cases, you should be paid and credited when people use the work you’ve created.
YouTube is certainly one of the largest if not the largest platform for music and various content on the planet, and it is only natural that you as an artist have your music there. With that being said, you have to ensure that your copyright isn’t abused by third parties and if used, that you claim royalties that are yours.
For this reason, YouTube has in place a system called Content ID. It is an automated system that identifies channels using your content. If chosen, it also automatically collects royalties from that content.
However, not everyone can join it, the conditions are thatif you are posting a song or other content, it has to be made by your almost entirely, so remixes and such are not eligible.
But, if you do fit the criteria then you’re more than welcome to join it!
Through Freecords, we’ve made it easy for everyone to do so and, unlike with other platforms, it is included in our price (completely free!), with no up-front costs, additional or hidden charges, you get to keep 100% of your revenue.
The only thing that you need to do is distribute your music to all platforms with Freecords and Content ID will be automatically included.
You can check it out here: https://www.freecords.com/the-club
The distribution contains TWO steps:
That's it, you are ready to go! You'll be notified as soon as your song is approved, which should take no longer than a week.
Thanks for reading, and of course thank you for being or becoming a part of the Freecords community.
